The Wonder Years
GCDS is the largest independent elementary and middle school in the country, and all of our expertise and resources are focused on the critical years of a child's early education—"the wonder years."
"There's a community that's built around the students and the faculty here that's irreplaceable," says Daisy Stuart '16. "And as I say that it's irreplaceable, you don't have to replace it because you will always have GCDS."
Family and Community
At home. Like family. These are the phrases that stand out when our young alumni reflect on their time at GCDS. The deep commitment of our teachers, the joyful environment on campus, and the strong focus on character development mean that our students see their teachers as mentors who challenge them to grow while always supporting them as individuals.
"Whatever you're good at, your teachers will nurture that and help you grow," says Claire Stein '16. "I was at my old school for 6 years, and I've only been at GCDS for 4 years, but looking back on it in 20 years, I'm going to consider myself a Tiger," adds Spencer Pierce '16.
Hear the class of 2016 reflect on their GCDS experience in their own words:
Love of Learning
We believe that the best, most rigorous academic study flourishes in an environment where learning is joyful, where every day is full of discovery, and where students are celebrated for their individuality and unique strengths.
We aim to prepare students not only for success at top high schools and colleges but also for a life of learning.
