Fifth Graders Celebrate Martin Luther King
Day
During class on Tuesday, January 20,
GCDS fifth grade students watched Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic speech, “I
Have a Dream.” Inspired by his speech, the students then wrote their own
dreams and described how they would accomplish those dreams (currently on
display in the fifth grade hallway). At the end of the school day, the entire
grade came together to share their dreams with each other. Some students spoke
of dreams to save the environment; others spoke of giving the gift of education
to all children. Dr. King would have been proud to see that his hopes and
wishes for all people are still present today in the hearts and minds of our
young students.
