GCDS fourth graders celebrated Hispanic culture with a Fiesta Mexicana on January 15. The fourth graders presented traditional songs and dances preceded by an introduction in both English and Spanish by the students. Parents not only enjoyed the lively concert but also the authentic art work and decorations by the students, including Mexican folk art fish, papel picado (paper banners), papel amate (bark paintings), Day of the Dead skeletons, God’s eyes, and murals of Mexican geography and plaza life. Following the performance, a delicious luncheon was held with authentic dishes enjoyed by all in the Dining Hall, which had been transformed into a "plaza Mexicana."
