Greenwich Country Day: THE GREEN TEAM

The Green Team is a new committee at GCDS which encourages environmental awareness and responsibility in the daily life of the school.  The committee was founded by Jeff Dishner and Amy Jurkowitz.  “We thought it was important to ensure that sustainable practices were in place at GCDS.  This is not a passing trend, but a change in the way we all conduct ourselves day to day.  There is no more important place to focus on green practices than at an educational institution.”   With Adam’s  strong support the committee was formed and already has over 55 interested members.  The Green Team held meetings in October and December.  
 
There are six areas the Green Team is focusing on for the current school year: Buildings and Grounds, Food, Transportation, Reduce/Reuse/Recycle, Education/Programs and Communication. Each area is run as a committee with co-chairs.   The co-chairs and committee have established goals for this year.
