WHAT COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT?A letter from Dan Offit
If you are reading this, you surely already know the singular importance of Greenwich Country Day School—to you, to your children or grandchildren, to our community.
So you know the magic that happens on Old Church Road: a robust education, informed by curiosity, is always a healthy, joyful journey; students learn and strengthen who they are while becoming global citizens who want to improve the world; the GCDS community continually grows through the strong bonds formed between students, as well as among students, faculty, and parents.
The problem: no one ever wants to leave! But now we have this amazing opportunity to give our community what they’ve wanted for so long: extend the time-tested philosophy of GCDS to include high school students.
Not only is the new Upper School the only co-ed independent school in Greenwich, it’s a one-time chance to re-imagine high school education and its enveloping experiences from the ground up—something that hasn’t been done in any significant way since the Industrial Revolution.
The A+ administrative and faculty team is in place; reconfiguring the Stanwich Road campus is well underway; and our initial class sizes exceeded projections. With everyone's participation, we know the new Upper School will be a significant success.
To this end, GCDS FIRST: The Campaign for Tradition and Innovation needs your support to realize our vision.
At GCDS we are not incrementalists: we jump in and get things done. Please join me in propelling this very exciting new chapter in GCDS’s history ahead.
All the best,
