COMPETITIVE SHOOTING DRILLS

Belein

  • 5:00 on the clock
  • Make as many 3’s as you can with 1-2 rebounder/passers
  • Can shoot from the same spot or move to different spots

Iona

  • Keep time, you will be taking a total of 50 3’s
  • Start at 90, take a 3, move to wing, take a 3, move to top, take a 3, move to wing, take a 3, move to 90 take a 3...REPEAT going the other direction (finishing at starting spot) 
    • You have taken 10 3’s 
    • Sprint to rim and back to top of key...take a 3
      • Sprint to rim and back to top of key...take a 3
  • Repeat for a total of 5 3’s (you have taken 15 total 3’s) 
  • Sprint to ½ court and back up to Right side slot...take a 3
    • Repeat this 10 times (you have taken 25 3’s)
  • Sprint to ½ court and back up to Left side slot...take a 3
    • Repeat this 10 times (you have taken 35 3’s)
  • Go back to the 90 and repeat the 1st 15 3’s you took
    • (90, wing, top, wing, 90 and back around) = 10
      • Rim to top of key = 5
  • Total of 50: how many did you make and in what time?
  • Goal is 30 in under 4:00

  • There are 9 spots around the 3 pt line
  • No rebounder/passer - get your own, spin to self
  • Keep time, and go as fast as you can
  • Take a 3, then a pull-up 2 from each of the 9 spots
  • Start at the 90 (corner) and finish at the other 90 (corner)
  • Each spot is worth 5 possible points (3+2) for total of 45

3,2,1 

There are 5 spots around the 3pt line (90, wing, top, wing, 90), TIMED (under 5:00), have a rebounder/passer

  1. Make 3 3’s from each spot 
  2. Make 2 in a row from each spot
  3. Make 1 from each spot, but if you miss from any spot you go back to beginning of step 3

Maloney

  • There are :30 on the clock
  • Start with the ball at the FT line facing the other end
  • Push the ball up and take a pull-up 3, get own rebound and go other way
  • Make as many full-court 3’s as you can in :30 Nash FT
  • You have 6 minutes to make 16 FT’s
  • Take up to 2 FT’s per time (each time you step to line is 1 and 1)
  • Make both: dribble down and back...shoot again
  • Make 1st, Miss 2nd: dribble down and back twice...shoot again
  • Miss 1st: Dribble down and back 3 times...shoot again Star
  • There are 5 spots around the 3 point line (90, wing, top, wing, 90) and 2:00 on the clock
  • Start at a 90 - you have 3 attempts at every spot to make 1
    • If you miss all 3, move onto the next spot
    • Once you make 1, move onto the next spot
  • Start at the 90, move to opposite wing
  • Move to opposite wing, move to opposite 90
  • Move to top, move back to starting 90
  • Repeat
  • Keep total makes for entire 2:00

Knicks

  • There are 5 spots around the 3pt line (90, wing, top, wing, 90) and 2:00 on the clock
  • Make ⅗ 3’s from a spot to move on to the next spot
  • How many spots can you make ⅗ from in 2:00?
    • Once you go all the way around, come back starting at last 90 you shot from (ie. spot 6)

Sixers

  • There are 5 spots around the 3pt line (90, wing, top, wing, 90) and 2:00 on the clock
  • Make 3 3’s in a row from a spot to move on to the next spot
  • How many spots can you make 3 3’s in a row from in 2:00?
    • Once you go all the way around, come back starting at last 90 you shot from (ie. spot 6)

Compound

  • There are 7 spots around the 3 pt line (90, wing, slot, top, slot, wing, 90)
  • Start at a 90 - shoot until you make 1
  • Once you make 1, the game begins
  • Make as many as you can from the spot
  • Once you miss, move onto the next spot
    • But keep your total score from spot to spot
  • What is your total after 7 spots
