Dear GCDS Community,
Two weeks ago the space behind my office was temporarily transformed into the "Elm Theater" and became the perfect backdrop for our recent Upper School production of Stephen Sondheim's "Into The Woods." Using the natural setting of our outdoor amphitheater, GCDS thespians regaled physically-distanced audiences with their fine acting and beautiful singing and dancing. Fractured fairy tales came together beautifully to teach us many lessons: "careful the things you say, children will listen," and perhaps most importantly, "no one is alone." Congratulations to Jonathan DeVries, the entire cast and crew, and the numerous Upper School faculty who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this production to fruition in the midst of a pandemic. We are so grateful for the wonderful journey you took us on, into and out of the woods!
