Dear GCDS Community,
Today, as I watched through my office window over 300 middle school students run, cheer, throw water balloons, laugh and smile, dressed in their team colors for the Tiger Cup Field Day, I could not help but have my heart warmed by the scene. What we all have accomplished this year is nothing short of amazing. The fact that we were able to teach and learn in person, maintain so many of our traditions, and elicit joy that can be seen despite the masks, speaks volumes about our community.
It is thanks to you—our Board, administration, faculty, staff, students, and current and alumni families—that we have made it to this point and in the process have triumphed over some incredibly difficult odds. I am left with nothing more to say other than—thank you all! Thank you for your patience, for the grit you showed this year, and for your optimism in the face of adversity. I hope you enjoy this short video which gives you a little glimpse into a small window of a most joyful school year!
I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing, safe, and healthy summer and we can't wait to see you back on campus in September!
