Dear GCDS Community,
There is a quote from Theodore Roosevelt that I committed to memory long ago. A plaque with his quote can be found outside the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. In this quote, Roosevelt gives credit to the athlete “in the arena...who strives valiantly, who errs, who comes short again and again...who, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
The year was 1910, (hence his use of the masculine gender only) but the message to athletes still rings true. Our Tigers athletic program, even while still in its early years, is already setting a standard for great play, great character, great success, and great learning—the kind of learning that comes so powerfully through athletics.
