On February 10, Rowan Introzzi ’26 made Greenwich Country Day history, scoring his 1,000th career point against The Masters School — a feat he accomplished in just three seasons and the first male athlete at GCDS to do so.
The moment came with two minutes left in a comeback effort, so play continued without pause. A celebration was saved for the next home game, but the significance wasn't lost on anyone.
"Scoring 1,000 points is a huge accomplishment for anyone in basketball," said Director of Athletics Tim Helstein. "His name is now etched in GCDS history — he'll see it on the 1,000-point banner every time he walks into the DON."
Helstein described Rowan as the ultimate teammate — always positive, leading by example, and a scoring threat from anywhere on the floor. On the court, Rowan's growth has been deliberate: better fitness, an expanded game, and a maturing leadership presence.
The credit, Rowan says, belongs to his coaches. "Whether it was Coach Pat Scanlon or Keith Williams taking time out of their day to work me out, or just the confidence they relay onto me before a game — they believe in me unconditionally," he said. "Their confidence in me has never wavered."
Next up: Trinity College — where Rowan hopes to keep playing for as long as he can and inspire others.
