Seven Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) seniors have been selected as Semifinalists in the 71st Annual National Merit Scholarship Program: Zachry Bostock, Ryan Carre, Charlie Moloney, Henry Santangelo, Linnea Shah-Gustafsson, William Stern, and Cooper Taylor.
Semifinalists were screened by their PSAT/NMSQT scores and represent less than 1% of the nation's high school graduating seniors. Over 1.3 million juniors entered the 2026 program, with Connecticut consistently ranking among the states with the highest qualifying scores.
"We are so proud of the seven GCDS students named Semifinalists," said Head of Upper School Chris Winters. "Their achievement reflects not only their hard work and determination, but also the support of the entire GCDS community that encourages them to reach their highest potential."
These students are among more than 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide and now have the opportunity to compete for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million. About 95% of Semifinalists advance to Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists win scholarships. Winners will be announced between April and July 2026.
